Mikhail Kozyrev is a well-known Russian radio host, actor, producer, and, most recently, a host on Russia’s opposition channel Dozhd (Телеканал Дождь). Having worked with and interviewed virtually all Russian rockers and many foreign performers, he was instrumental to developing Russia’s music tastes in the 2000s. One of his many achievements includes creating Russia’s biggest rock festival Nashestvie (Нашествие), that continues to be held annually since 1999.

Beyond music, Mr. Kozyrev is known for playing himself in one of the best modern-day Russian comedies, Radio Day (День Радио), as well as its sequels Election Day (День Выборов) and Radio Day 2.

Mr. Kozyrev will engage in two events at Penn:

Tuesday 2/19, 12-1:30pm, Annenberg 111: 'Brat 2' Discussion. Mikhail Kozyrev will discuss his work on the soundtrack of “Brat-2” (Brother 2) accompanied by selected scenes from the film. [see Facebook Event here]

Thursday 2/21, 5-7:15pm, Stiteler Hall, B26: Music, Youth Culture, and Protest in Russia. Mikhail Kozyrev will discuss music as a form of expression with Hunter Heaney, Executive Director of the Voice Project, an advocacy group focused on promoting freedom of artistic expression as an agent of social change.
